Still waiting....
We are now entering week 38 of 40 and still no sign of our little daughter! I have been having a few stronger pains and "contractions" over the last few days which could be a sign that the end is nigh but as I keep reading on the baby websites (Baby Expert and Baby Centre) I have signed up to you never can really tell!
Today we have been to Toys R Us again as we needed to purchase a Cotbed mattress for the cotbed we brought way back in December as when we came to assemble it there was no mattress! (A minor detail we forgot to check in all the excitment). Anyway as well as that they had a sale on some really cute outfits and as perusual I just couldn't resist and ended up buying a very summery outfit, a sun hat and not one but two pairs of shoes although one pair are 6-9months and so will have to go away for now!
14 Days and counting lets hope they are speedy....

Waiting...
We're now entering week 37 of 40 week wait for Lily!
A fortnight ago, we decided to prepare the house, by cleaning the room to become the nursey; gathering together all the baby items; building the cotbed and pushchair - that were purchased way back in December! We've videod the whole process and will be posting it soon for all to see!
Soon after, early Monday morning Anneka started getting contractions. The frequency increased and once we had arrived at the Doctors to see the midwife, we had to rush to the labour ward - thinking this was it! After a further 48 hours of resting and monitoring on the antenatal ward, Anneka was discharged from the hospital, with a course of antibiotics. An infection had brought on the symptoms of labour!
So, we've since been resting and waiting, in anticipation of Lily's arrival. We made a further trip to the hospital since, due to similar pains. At least we have now had enough practice and know exactly where the labour ward is, along with the various amenities.
All I can say is that I hope she hurries up and makes an appearance soon!

The Baby Show, NEC Birmingham
Yesterday we visited the NEC in Birmingham for The Baby Show!
Nanny (Anneka's Mum, Susan) had bought us tickets to go, so Anneka, Alice, Kim, Nanny and Me all set off to arrive just after the doors opened. Immediately we were confronted by a man trying out an adult-sized Fisher Price baby bouncer!
We spent a good few hours wandering around each of the stalls, amazed by what was on offer - and indeed, the world of Babies that we're now members of...
The great thing about it all, is that each individual exhibitor had something new to offer. From re-usable nappies (of which we've purchased 5), to extravagent prams and nusery furniture.
Although the show has finished for this year - we'll be back next year, with Lily too! I can highly recommend it, to both the mother and fathers. I found a pair of pink Converse shoes for Lily - something that I've been wanting to get her since we first learnt of her arrival. I've also walked away with a bag full of literature, which will hopefully prepare me even more for the big day (and years to follow)!

Daddy's little girl
This morning when Matt and I were enjoying a lie in, Lily true to form decided that she wanted to say Hi and was kicking and wriggling like mad! It was one of those moments where I was so amazed and proud to have the two most important people in my life with me. She must have been kicking for a good 15 minutes and her Daddy's face was a real picture when she did one of the biggest kicks I have felt and Matt thought so too as a huge grin spread right across his face! Just an amazing moment for us both! I am truly very lucky.

10 Weeks and counting!
With just 10 weeks to go I am really starting to get excited about the arrival of Baby Lily. We have managed to buy most of the essentials for the first weeks/months and are slowly ticking off everything we planned to do in time for her arrival! I am now on maternity leave which is really ideal at this stage as I am finding that my movement and sleep is becoming limited with the growing bump. Still lots to look forward to in the final few weeks as just the two of us though; including a party/bbq for Matt's birthday in a few weeks and we are just going to enjoy the time we have together!
